NOLI CONDOLES WITH YORAC’S FAMILY. Vice President Noli
“Kabayan” De Castro extends his condolences to Mrs. Josefa Yorac,
mother of the late Haydee Yorac, and her entire family. De Castro
attended the wake of the former Presidential Commission on Good
Government (PCGG) chief yesterday at the Sanctuario de San Antonio in
Makati City. The Vice President described Haydee Yorac as a valuable

Noli "Kabayan" de Castro
receives a plaque of appreciation from Dr. Augustine K. Lim, president of
the Association of Asian
Confederation of Credit Unions
(ACCU) during a big gathering of credit unions from all over Asia. De Castro, in underlining
the role of the local
cooperatives in enhancing the prospects of housing microfinance, revealed the two
pilot housing projects aimed
at providing shelter security and livelihood opportunities to urban poor
families: the development of
poor urban communities project & the strategic private sector partnership for
urban poverty reduction.

delivers his keynote address
during Asian Credit Union Forum at Dusit Hotel in Makati City. Vice President De Castro
noted that local cooperative
movements, in reasonably following the practices of credit unions in other parts
of the world, were able to provide at the
grassroot levels mechanisms for economic
development and thus pave way or people-centered development.

delegates to the launching of the Regional MDGII Report at the Asian Development
Bank (ADB) in Ortigas, Pasig
City yesterday. De Castro lauded the ADB, the United Nations Development
Programme (UNDP), and the UN
Economic and Social Commission forAsia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) for providing
substantial and meaningful
assistance to the countries in Asia and the Pacific as they strive to achieve the

EX - INFORMAL SETTLERS’ CHILDREN — Vice-President and Housing and
Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC) concurrent chairman Noli
‘Kabayan’ De Castro leads the groundbreaking and time capsule laying
ceremonies yesterday for the proposed construction of school for
children of former informal settlers at the Santol relocation site in
Balagtas, Bulacan. Seen with De Castro are (L to R) Balagtas mayor
Reynaldo Castro, and officials of the Federation of Filipino Chinese
Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. namely Francis Chua, president,
Henry Ah, vice-president, and Enrique Chua, chairman of FFCCCI’s
Welfare Committee. The school will be donated by FFCCCI to Northville 6
residents in support of the government’s housing program for informal
