VP
NOLI SUPPORTS WITH CBCP’S CALL
13
September 2005
Vice
President Noli “Kabayan” De Castro agreed with the Catholic
Bishops Conference of the Philippines’ recent stand on the political issue being
faced by President Gloria
Macapagal Arroyo regarding the
junking of the impeachment case by Congress.
I agree with
the CBCP’s call for the
continuance of the search for
the truth through peaceful, legal & constitutional means.
The CBCP has released Tuesday
afternoon the new collective
decision of the member prelates in the light of what transpired during last
week’s dismissal of
impeachment complaint.
The assembly
of bishops announced that : 1)they want the search for the truth to continue in
accordance with the rule of
law; 2) the country must move forward and that the government must address the
serious problems of the
country especially on poverty; 3) regarding people empowerment, the bishops
left the decision to the
people; and added that Filipinos must meet the trials with sobriety and with
faith in God.
Ating
The Vice
President also concurred with the CBCP’s position that in searching for the truth,
everyone must not forget the
economic crisis we are in brought about by rising oil prices and global
terrorism.
The Vice
President assured everyone that despite all the political turmoil that the nation is
experiencing, he, as part of
the Cabinet, will continue to work doubly hard, focusing mainly on fighting
poverty and uplifting the
lives of every Filipino.
