VP NOLI’S RESPONSE TO CORY’S CALL
FOR PGMA TO RESIGN

Our democracy is once more
facing a difficult test. Amidst all the recent political developments,
I call on everyone to exercise sobriety and to continue with their
prayerful discernment.
We should accord due deference and serious thought to President Cory
Aquino’s call to rally behind the Constitution. We should respect
President Cory’s call. I only wish to remind everyone that the exercise
of our democratic rights must be made within the bounds of the
Constitution and the rule of law.
I remain confident that our President will discern well and will decide
with no less than the welfare of the nation and the greater number of
Filipinos in mind.
Muli, humaharap sa isang
mahirap na pagsubok ang ating demokrasya. Sa gitna ng mga kaganapang
pulitikal, hinihikayat ko ang lahat na maging mahinahon at ipagpatuloy
ang kanilang madasaling pag-uunawa.
Kailangang bigyan natin ng kahalagahan at seryosong pag-iisip ang
panawagan ni Pangulong Cory Aquino na magkaisa’t ipaglaban ang ating
Saligang-Batas. Dapat nating igalang ang panawagan ni Pangulong Cory.
Nais ko lamang ipaalala sa lahat na ang pag-gamit ng ating mga
karapatang pan-demokrasya ay hindi dapat lalagpas sa itinakda ng ating
Saligang-Batas.
Patuloy akong naniniwala na uunawain ng lubos ng ating Pangulo ang mga
kaganapang ito at siya ay mag-dedesisyong gabay ang ikabubuti ng
sambayanan at nang nakararaming Pilipino.
